After more than 50 years of dedicated service, Dr. Dale Erickson is retiring from Renal Medicine Associates. As respected nephrologist, Dr. Erickson played a central role in building the largest nephrology practice in New Mexico. From his early days as a missionary doctor in Africa to deciding on UNMH for his medical residency and Nephrology fellowship training to helping establish a kidney and kidney-pancreas transplant program at Presbyterian Hospital, his career has been marked by vision, compassion, and tireless commitment to patient care.
In May 1975, Dr. Erickson joined founders, Dr. Richard Cronin and Dr. Glenn Lubash at Renal Medicine Associates. Soon to follow was Dr. Richard Goldman and the four doctors forged ahead as a “band of brothers” building Renal Medicine Associates with the founding principle of providing outstanding, compassionate nephrology care to their patients.
Dr. Erickson also helped train generations of nephrologists, always leading with humility, wisdom, and heart. His impact is felt not just in the practice, but in the lives of thousands of patients across the state. Renal Medicine Associates providers will continue to serve Dr. Erickson’s patients and the community with our providers which now total over 15 MDs and 14 Advanced Care Practitioners.

Renal Medicine Associates wants to continue the legacy that Dr. Erickson and the founding partners set forth. This includes our community outreach for patient education and disease prevention through the New Mexico Kidney Foundation. As well as our mission to provide care with the highest quality, integrity, and compassion. We are grateful for the decades of leadership and service. Please join us honoring Dr. Erickson’s extraordinary legacy and wishing him every joy in retirement.
